🐝 Congratulations to James Sorensen on Committing to Georgia Tech!

We are excited to announce that James Sorensen has officially committed to continue his academic and athletic career at Georgia Tech!

A standout backstroker, James Sorensen has put together an impressive resume through 7 years of hard work and dedication at the Fins. He earned two Summer Junior National cuts in the 100 and 200 yard backstroke, and also qualified for Junior Nationals in the 100 butterfly, showcasing his versatility at the national level.

During the short course season at Y Nationals, James delivered outstanding performances:

  • In the 200 yard backstroke, he finished 4th in prelims with a personal-best time of 1:46.16, then went on to place 6th in the finals.
  • In the 100 yard backstroke, he posted another personal best of 48.34, earning a 6th-place finish in finals.

His success in and out of the pool is further reflected in his standing as the 3rd-ranked swimmer in Georgia overall for the Class of 2026.

James has been a leader on our team, setting a high standard through his work ethic, consistency, and commitment to improvement. We are incredibly proud of all he has accomplished and can’t wait to see him continue his journey as a Yellow Jacket in the ACC.

Please join us in congratulating James Sorensen on this exciting next chapter.
